Muslims are thankful to Allah for the blessing of Islam and for being among the followers of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him). They believe in what was revealed in Surat Al-A^r af: فالذين ء امنوا به وعزروه meaning [those who believed in Muhammad and glorified him]. (Peace Be Upon Him) Allah has praised his Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) in the Holy Qur’an better than any other praising, in Surat al-Qalam Allah said: وانك لعلى خلق عظيم which means: “You indeed have great manners”. The celebration of the Prophet’s birth, in other words “Al-Mawlid” Mawlid Al-Nabiy , has a great benefit. It inspires the heart to have a more profound love for our dear Prophet (Peace Be upon Him). It is commemorated by millions of Muslims all over the world who join together for many rewardable deeds. Among these deeds are: reciting verses from the Holy Qur’an; chanting Islamic praises; telling the story of the Prophet’s birth (Peace Be upon Him); teaching religious knowledge; slaughtering animals to feed the poor; and gathering to thank and praise Allah for the blessing of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon him), and to ask Allah to exalt the honour of our Prophet, sallal ahu ^alaihi wa Sallam. The honorable, knowledgeable, and righteous ruler: al-Mudhaffar, the King of Irbil, initiated the celebration of the Prophet’s Birth about 900 years ago, and he was praised by Muslim scholars of Islam--among them the Egyptian hafidhs: Ibn Hajar al-^Asqalaniyy and Jalalud-Din as-Suyutiyy. The famous scholar of hadith, Abul-Khattab Ibn Dihyah, wrote a book for the king especially to be read during the mawlid celebration, and there are no great Muslim scholars who dispraised this innovated celebration.
